The Oldest Record Shop in the World
After extensive research, Spillers Records in Cardiff, Wales in the UK is the world's oldest record store. Opened in 1894 by Henry Spiller, Spillers Records originally sold phonographs, wax phonograph cylinders, and shellac phonograph discs. In the early 20th century, Henry's son Edward took over the shop and began to sell more musical instruments as well as pre recorded music.
